Maucotools has launched ORBITRUE, a family of portable flange facing machines that restore flange sealing faces on site, from 1" to 80" (Ø 25–2032 mm). Three sizes are available now, ORBITRUE 19 Manual, 40 and 80, giving maintenance teams in oil & gas, power and marine a way to reface damaged flanges without sending them to a machine shop.
A scored, pitted or corroded gasket face is one of the most common reasons a flange joint will not seal. The usual alternatives are slow: cut the flange out and replace it, or dismantle the equipment and ship the part to a workshop. Either way, the plant stays down for longer.
ORBITRUE takes the machining to the flange instead: the machine is set up on the joint and the face is re-machined in place, without the part leaving site.
ORBITRUE: one family, one naming rule
ORBITRUE is the Maucotools family of portable flange facing machines. Every model mounts inside the flange bore (ID mount): the bore becomes the axis of rotation, and the tool works the sealing face as the machine turns around it.
The naming rule is simple: the number in the model name is the maximum facing diameter in inches. ORBITRUE 19 faces up to 19" (482 mm), ORBITRUE 80 up to 80" (2032 mm). Check the largest flange on the job and you know which model to look at.
The complete family runs to six sizes, covering flanges from 1" to 80" (Ø 25–2032 mm). Three are on sale now.
Three sizes available now
- ORBITRUE 19 Manual: hand-operated, no power supply; clamps in bores Ø 25–152 mm (1"–6") and faces Ø 25–482 mm (1"–19").
- ORBITRUE 40: motorised, faces Ø 457–1016 mm (18"–40"), horizontally or vertically, with four drive options and Switch System compatibility.
- ORBITRUE 80: motorised, faces Ø 1016–2032 mm (40"–80") on the same architecture as the 40; the electric version is rated 2.5 kW, up to 80 rpm.
The three sizes cover the flanges maintenance teams meet in oil & gas and petrochemical plants, in power and process plants (heat exchangers, pressure vessels, pumps, turbines), on marine and offshore installations, and in the day-to-day work of maintenance contractors.
Manual or motorised: four drives to match the site
The ORBITRUE 19 Manual needs no power at all. Radial feed is by lead screw, the slide runs on brass gibs, and the tool is an indexable insert that leaves a continuous spiral (phonographic) finish. The footprint is 331 × 191 mm, and the machine ships in a carrying case with its manual, manufacturer's declaration and test certificate.
It has no ignition source of its own: in classified areas it is used under the site's work permit.
The ORBITRUE 40 and 80 are motorised flange facing machines built for larger joints. Clamping arms hold the machine in the bore, the rotary module turns on a precision slewing bearing, and radial feed is automatic per revolution, with a manual override when the operator needs it. The tool head swivels ±45°, so the same set-up handles facing, chamfering and bevelling.
Four drives are available:
- Electric: planetary gearmotor; on the ORBITRUE 80, 2.5 kW with planetary reduction, up to 80 rpm.
- Pneumatic: for sites where compressed air is the working utility; also available in ATEX execution.
- Hydraulic: also available in ATEX execution.
- CNC: numerically controlled version.

Switch System, ATEX and RTJ options on the 40 and 80
Switch System: from facing machine to line boring machine
The ORBITRUE 40 and 80 are part of the Switch System: the flange facing machine converts into a large-diameter line boring machine. One platform covers two kinds of work, facing flanges and boring large diameters, instead of two separate machines in the store.
ATEX execution for pneumatic and hydraulic drives
The pneumatic and hydraulic versions of the ORBITRUE 40 and 80 are available in ATEX Category 3 execution for Zone 2, with Category 2 for Zone 1 on request. The electric and CNC versions are not intended for explosive atmospheres. In any classified area, the site work permit is always required.
RTJ grooving kit on request
For ring type joint flanges, an RTJ grooving kit is available on request for the ORBITRUE 40 and 80.
FAQ
What is a portable flange facing machine?
A portable flange facing machine is a machine tool that mounts directly on a flange and re-machines its sealing face in place, so the flange does not have to be removed and taken to a workshop. ORBITRUE models mount inside the bore, which becomes the axis of rotation.
Which ORBITRUE size do I need?
Start from the largest flange you have to face, because the model number is the maximum facing diameter in inches. Up to 19" with no power on site: ORBITRUE 19 Manual. From 18" to 40": ORBITRUE 40. From 40" to 80": ORBITRUE 80.
Can ORBITRUE machines be used in ATEX zones?
Pneumatic and hydraulic ORBITRUE 40 and 80: yes, in ATEX Category 3 execution (Zone 2), Category 2 (Zone 1) on request. Electric and CNC: no. The ORBITRUE 19 Manual has no ignition source of its own and works under the site's work permit.
Each ORBITRUE product page carries a video of the machine at work and a downloadable datasheet. Start with the ORBITRUE 40 datasheet. For the method itself, from inspection and set-up to the final checks, see our complete guide to on-site flange facing.
Three further sizes, ORBITRUE 6, 16 and 24, are coming soon and will complete the six-model family.
