The SWITCH SYSTEM is the model Maucotools uses to develop its portable machine tools: milling head, arm and control panel form a common core, and a single Conversion Kit turns it from one type of machine into another.
Today you buy a linear milling machine. Tomorrow, with a kit, it is an orbital milling machine. Same investment, same operator training, same spare parts.

THE PRINCIPLE
Every Switch System machine is born from the same architecture: a machining core (milling head, two-axis arm, electrical cabinet and remote control) and an interchangeable motion base. Changing the base means changing the machine.
PAIR 1 · LINEAR ⇄ ORBITAL MILLING

LINEAR BASE
1000 mm modular rail with recirculating-ball guides and precision rack: the core travels along the workpiece. Up to 5 modules, 4550 mm of stroke.
MACHINING CORE
Milling head with a motor spindle sized for the customer’s operations, arm with handwheel-driven Y and Z axes, electrical cabinet and remote pendant with potentiometer and reversing switch.

ORBITAL BASE
Rotary unit with precision slewing bearing, fixing arms and counterweight: the core rotates around the workpiece. Flanges and circular seats from Ø 990 to 1270 mm clamping.
CONVERSION KIT
The Conversion Kit contains the alternative base and the mechanical interface: the core is removed from one base and refitted on the other with ordinary workshop tools. No modification to the machine, no electrical re-calibration.
PAIR 2 · FLANGE FACING ⇄ LINE BORING
The Switch System also applies to a second pair of machines: the ORBITRUE flange facing machine and the large-diameter line boring machine share the same core. With the Switch Kit you move from one to the other.

FLANGE FACING MACHINE
Facing of sealing faces on flanges from 18" to 80" (Ø 457–2032 mm): the arm orbits around the flange axis.

The same machine turns into a line boring machine for large-diameter bores: same core, same operator training, same spare parts.
COMING SOONWHY IT PAYS
The machining core, the most valuable part, is bought once. Each additional machine type costs only the kit.
Controls, safety devices, assembly and maintenance procedures are the same on every configuration. An operator who knows one machine knows them all.
Head, gearmotor, guides and electrical components are shared: fewer part numbers in stock, fewer stoppages waiting for a part.
Start with the configuration you need today. When a different job comes in, add the kit instead of buying another machine.
THE SWITCH SYSTEM SERIES
Two pairs of machines, each with its own common core and its own conversion kit. The range is growing.

Linear Milling Machine
Milling, facing and drilling along the workpiece on a 1000 mm modular rail, extendable up to 5 modules. Configurable on a single rail, as a gantry and as a perimeter.

Orbital Milling Machine
Machining of flanges, seats and circular surfaces: the core rotates around the workpiece on a precision slewing bearing. Clamping diameters from 990 to 1270 mm, head tilt ±55°.

The diagrams from the user manuals, side by side: in red the components of the common core that move from one base to the other.

Numbers in red: components of the common core (milling head, arm, controls).
THE KITS
The alternative base complete with interface: for the LMM it is the orbital kit, for the RMM the linear kit. The core moves from one base to the other without modifications.
Servo-driven axes and numerical control in place of the handwheels: repeatable cycles, interpolation, complex profiles. Available for every machine in the series.
POWER SUPPLY
Switch System machines are available with electric or hydraulic drives, to work in the workshop as on site, even where electric power is not allowed.
APPLICATIONS
Facing of sealing faces, gasket seats and mating surfaces on flanges and housings, with the orbital configuration.
Guideways, bed plates, sliding and bearing surfaces: the rail extends module by module up to 4550 mm of stroke.
Sequences of holes, slots and pockets on rectangular flanges, plates and frames, with repeatable positioning along the rail.
Re-machining of damaged surfaces, milled overlays and mating faces on structures that cannot be dismantled or transported.
